Our Business

InterSomma was established with the goal of providing innovative solutions to importers, manufacturers and distributors of fine wood products in the US and Canada.

We have rights to sell top grade lumber, decking, wood handles, flooring, plywood and other wood products from major producers in South America.

Who We Are

Romel Bezerra

President

Romel is a well known wood trader and expert in tropical hardwoods.

He is a past President (1999-2000) of IWPA – The International Wood Products Association and has introduced various new species, like Jatoba, (or Brazilian Cherry, a term he coined), Cumaru (Braz. Teak), Massaranduba (Braz. Redwood), among others.

Romel is also the owner of the trademark IPANEMA DECKING, an entirely new concept for hardwood decking, which provides a very positive approach to sustainable management of tropical forests.

raoni bezerra

Manager

Born in Brazil but raised in the United States (Greensboro, NC), Raoni speaks fluent English and Portuguese. He learned about wood the right way, with a sound combination of selected technical books and lots of hands-on practice and experience grading thousands of cubic meters of lumber, decking and flooring.

Now based in Belém, Brazil – the main shipping port in the Amazon region – he has extensive and direct connections with many sawmills and manufacturing facilities throughout the states of Pará, Mato Grosso, Amazonas, Acre and Rondonia. His excellent relationships with the owners of those mills provide a significant competitive advantage to InterSomma and its customers.

Raoni also has a strong working knowledge of the vast majority of native species, their properties and applications, which also helps to offer innovative solutions to our customers’ needs.

He knows well the value of prompt and reliable service to our clients.
